Marathi theatre, cinema and TV industry has been fascinated with Shivaji Maharaj for a long time. We have a strong tradition of film based on Shivaji Maharaj or on the incidents based on his life.

Adding one more name to this long list will be Lai Bhari-fame Riteish Deshmukh. Genelia Deshmukh recently tweeted about producing a film based on Shivaji Maharaj’s life. This film will be produced by Mumbai Film Company, owned by Riteish and Genelia. Genelia earlier produced Lai Bhari – a blockbuster film in 2014.
